what's in a name?

Of the many questions and emotions that run through a woman's head when she is expecting, one of the surprisingly difficult ones was deciding on a name.  It seems easy, I know.  Every little girl thinks about it while playing house, and every college girl thinks about it as they search for Mr. Right.  But as the dreams become a reality, the thought of another person living with a name I chose really stressed me out.  We decided to play it safe and simply go with a name taken from each side of our family.

We agreed on William Randolph Pruitt.  Luke's first name is William, a name he inherited from his grandfather and Randolph, my dads first name (even though he went by Randy).  We are very pleased with his name.  It is simple, yet an all-around classic American name.

On a side note, we had a bit of exciting news today!  I had been told the kitchen cabinets would not be ready for three more weeks; but as of today, they will be installed next Friday, August 10th!  I have also scheduled movers for Saturday, August 11th.  While there is much to do before we meet Will, my very first priority will be the nursery.

This is what the nursery looks like now.

Sooner than later I can hang this airplane mobile

   and this adorable airplane print!

   Until tomorrow...

our new (old) house.

Over the past 10 months Luke and I have been asked countless times if we have seen the movie "The Money Pit" with Tom Hanks.  While we still haven't seen the movie, I'm not sure we need to.  We have been living it.  We closed on our first home last December.  It is a beautiful, old, American home with a likeness to the house in "Father of the Bride". We believe it was built sometime in the 40's and although the structure was in good shape, the house needed updates.  And so early this year the adventure began.  Although I'm sure you will hear more (and see more) about the house in future posts, here are a few pictures we snapped before the renovations began.

Thanks for stopping by my new blog!

a memorable memorial...

Although there is a lot going on in our life these days, I could not think of a better way to begin this blog than to recognize the life of my sweet niece, Lily.  Tomorrow would be her second birthday.  For those of you who don't know, Lily was born with Zellweger's syndrome and was only with us for four months.  Her Mom, Dad, and two brothers made the most of each day with Lily and because of that we have beautiful memories and photos to last for a lifetime.

Music by Luke Pruitt: "Lily"
Please enjoy!

Happy Birthday Lily!
We love you Clay, Susan, Denver, & Hudson
